Daniel’s Story – LRAP Opened Doors

September 13, 2016

A talented graduate of the Detroit Public Schools system, Daniel Peake was counting on a scholarship to be able to afford attending his first-choice college, Spring Arbor University.

But after learning that this scholarship was valid only at certain colleges, Daniel considered abandoning his plans altogether — he couldn’t afford to pay for Spring Arbor’s tuition out-of-pocket, and the thought of student loans was terrifying.

Then a Spring Arbor official called to explain that Daniel had been offered an LRAP (Loan Repayment Assistance Program), which promised to help repay his student loans based on his income after graduation. LRAP opened the door for Daniel to attend the college of his dreams, and he now enjoys a promising career in the engineering department of General Motors.
