Future Educators Give LRAPs an A+

December 4, 2023

  • Concerns about the future hold back many aspiring educators from pursuing their passions.
  • Ardeo’s Loan Repayment Assistance Programs (LRAPs) provide students like Caitlin, Timothy, and Emma with the financial peace of mind they need to follow their dreams.
  • According to surveys, one-third of education majors enrolled with LRAP would not have attended their institution without it.

Many education majors are driven by a passion for shaping young minds and making a positive impact on society. Unfortunately, too many aspiring teachers must overcome concerns about their own futures before they can help others.

In this blog, we’ll explore how Ardeo’s Loan Repayment Assistance Programs (LRAPs) have helped 3 students overcome anxieties about their futures, enabling them to follow their dreams.

Financial Security Stops Student From Delaying College

Caitlin comes from a single-parent home where finances have always been tight. As she neared her high school graduation, those financial constraints had Caitlin questioning whether to delay attending college. She knew becoming a teacher wouldn’t pay as well as other fields. By promising to help repay federal, private, and parent loans (as well as converted TEACH Grants) after graduation, LRAPs gave Caitlin the financial peace of mind she needed to attend college.

“I feel honored to have help earning a college degree, because I do not think I would have followed through on becoming an elementary school teacher since a teacher’s pay is lower than other professions.”

Financial Support Empowers Student to Change the World

Timothy wants to change the world, which is why he decided to pursue a career in education. While he may never make a lot of money as a teacher, Timothy believes that happiness is found when you give to others. When Timothy learned about LRAP, he appreciated how the program empowers him to pursue his passions and change lives.

“I knew teaching wasn’t an occupation that makes much money, but it changes lives… LRAP provided me hope that I could live a life teaching, sharing, and learning with others.”

Financial Safety Net Provides Protection Student Needs

Emma remembers talking about college with her dad. They hoped she would attend her dream college. When Emma dad passed away during her junior year of high school, her college plans became a question mark. Losing her dad took a toll on her family’s mental, emotional, and fiscal health. Emma wasn’t sure how she’d attend her dream college until she heard about LRAP. The program gave Emma the protection she needed to follow her dreams, just like her dad wanted.

“When I learned about the cost (of college), it made me feel lost, but I soon found out about LRAP. It finally made me feel some hope. I can finally pursue our dream.”
