Watch the webinar to hear about EMU’s success using Ardeo’s Loan Repayment Assistance Programs (LRAPs) for Fall 2024, and how they are keeping the momentum going for Fall 2025. (Hint: They expanded usage for ALL incoming education students!)
During the webinar, Katie Condon, Vice President of Enrollment Management, discussed how they used LRAPs to re-engage admitted students, especially education, social work and other humanities majors, to enroll late in the cycle. For Fall 2024, Eastern Michigan was looking for a yield tool that could help boost enrollment late in the cycle, and that could increase their competitiveness and change enrollment decisions in their favor. That’s where LRAPs came in.
They even had the opportunity to test LRAPs against a late-cycle strategy they used in the past.
“One of the strategies that Eastern had used in the past was something that we called a housing grant, right? Giving some additional financial assistance for students who live on campus. And so we actually had this amazing opportunity with Ardeo and with this LRAP to do a little bit of A/B testing. So for our partnership we offered a $2,000 housing grant or a Loan Repayment Assistance through Ardeo. And 100% of the students chose the LRAP as opposed to the housing grant.”

EMU enrolled 39 students after June 15th. After seeing success with the program for Fall 2024, they decided to expand usage and offer LRAPs to all incoming Education majors. They private-labeled their LRAP, The EMU Educator Promise.
“We really wanted to pursue this loan repayment assistance for educators, because that’s who we are as an institution. That is our identity as an institution. And we have great dean and great leadership within that college who are really, really excited about this opportunity to talk with future educators about how EMU really invested in them and their career, not just while they’re here, but also in making sure that they’re financially stable as they enter into their first couple of years as being educators.”
