We are excited to announce that Jackson State University in Mississippi is partnering with Ardeo to offer incoming education majors a Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) to combat the state’s teacher shortage.
Starting with the Fall 2024 cohort, Jackson State is offering the program to all incoming teacher education majors and other eligible students selected by their Office of Admissions. The program makes this powerful promise to Jackson State’s students – if income after graduation is modest, the LRAP will help them repay their federal student, private alternative and parent PLUS loans.
Jackson State is the first HBCU to offer this program as part of an initiative to support all new, incoming teacher education majors. In Jackson State’s press release, Kylon Alford-Windfield, Vice President of Enrollment Management, said the university has a rich history as a teaching college.
“Our goal is to alleviate the financial burdens of our students, particularly teacher education students, enabling them to focus on their careers without the worry of student loan debt,” Alford-Windfield said. “We are proud to lead the way in providing practical, impactful support of our students’ futures.”
LRAP has been a game-changer for me. Knowing that I have support to manage my student loan repayments has significantly reduced my financial stress.” – Dalayjah W., Jackson State University
